St Mary's RC Primary School

Full of grace, we grow and learn together

Reception Class

Spring 2019

This term the children have enjoyed their topic "How to be a hero like Jesus". They have focused on two books Supertato by Sue Hendra and Superworm by Julia Donaldson. The children have been learning all about communities, belonging, feelings, forgiveness and second chances. They became Superhero trainers and retrained Evil Pea to be good:

Class Trip March 2019

As part of the topic we have looked at healthy eating and where food comes from. Reception had a fantastic opportunity to visit Pizza Express to explore the foods they use there and make their own pizzas, they were shown about hygiene and safety using equipment. What a fantastic day....

Reception Class

Autumn 2018

The children have enjoyed exploring their new learning environment and getting to know each other...

During September Reception class had a special welcome assembly where they met their year 6 buddies...

EYFS have focused on two stories this half term - 'Goat goes to playschool' and 'Mr Happy', they have learnt both stories in Makaton and are able to recite them with the Makaton signs.

Library Visit and Autumnal Walk

Stockport library very kindly invited us to visit for a book reading and to explore the books available to borrow. The children have also been focusing on Autumn and we went on an autumnal walk to the local park with the help of some of our parents, we collected signs of autumn and brought them back to school to explore. Both visits were extremely enjoyable and wouldn't have been possible without the support of our lovely parent helpers!
