HOME LEARNING

INDIVIDUAL CHILDREN

Work will be uploaded on this webpage each week in case individual pupils are absent from school due to self isolation for a short period of 2-3 days whilst awaiting a Covid 19 test result.

If your child has to then self isolate for a longer period of time (10-14 days) then work will then be provided for them via Class Dojo or through this webpage.

The option to have this work in paper form can be available and parents must contact the office to request this.

WHOLE CLASS ISOLATION

If the whole class has to self isolate due to a confirmed case of Covid 19 in our bubble then work will be provided on a daily basis via Class Dojo or using this webpage. We will also use Purple Mash for Home Learning.

I will show the children how to access this in class so that they are ready should this situation arise.

We are using Class Dojo and Purple Mash as the pupils can submit work back to me via these platforms or through email and I can mark this and give feedback more easily.

ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT ME VIA CLASS DOJO OR USING OUR CLASS EMAIL:

Stay safe everyone!

For those of you the completed your English words yesterday and created some marvellous mind maps about yourselves for me, well done. You should have received your dojos.

Today I’d like you to use those mind maps to create an information text about yourselves for me.

An information text will require a title. This could be your name or possibly something a little catchier to grab me as a reader.

I would then like a short introduction as to what the information text is about.

Then I would like it to go on to write subheadings and use the information on your mind maps as well as anything else you can think of to write under those subheadings.

Here are some ideas for subheadings:

What are my interests

Where I am from

What are my likes and dislikes

All of todays poems are written by Robert Louis Stevenson. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1850. His family included engineers, scientists, a professor of philosophy, and a religious minister.

He loved writing stories and poems when he was a child and went on to become an author. His most famous children’s book is Treasure Island, which tells of the adventures of a boy called Jim Hawkins who finds a treasure map, and a pirate called Long John Silver. His most famous book of poems is A Child’s Garden of Verses, which he wrote when he was ill in bed.

Read chapter four of the Ice cream Villain, If you've missed any of the earlier chapter make sure you catch up first. Ask your adult to help with the reading if you get stuck. You could take turns reading a paragraph each.

Now test your knowledge of the chapter with these five brain-busting questions.

English

LO: to use interesting adjectives to describe

Adjectives word challenge: try and think of interesting adjectives to describe, no nice or big please!

An adjective is a word that describes a noun (the name of a thing or a place). 'It was a terrible book. The word 'terrible' is an adjective. ... It tells us what the book (the noun) was like.

Forest School

Building a den

Building a den is a brilliant back-to-nature challenge that will awaken your child’s inner caveman.

Find some thick, long sticks and challenge your child to create their own shelter, either by leaning them up against a tree, or by lashing them together with string at the top for a tipi-style den.

You could take an old sheet out with you to give their den-building more scope.

This is a good test of problem-solving skills that involves your child working out how to balance the sticks and make them stay standing, as well as providing an opportunity to be physically active.

If you can't go outside. What could you use to make a den at home?

Don't forget to send me some pictures on class Dojo.

Hi children, Mrs Saunders here :-)

Today is the Epiphany.

The Epiphany celebrates the Wise Men visiting baby Jesus. Epiphany means "appear" or "reveal".  Jesus is revealed to the world by the visit of the Wise Men, they brought baby Jesus presents but did not know him.

You do know Jesus, so what present would you give to him? It might be something you will do for Jesus rather than an object.

Write your answer down and explain why you have chosen this present. Draw a picture too.

Then have a look at this comprehension RE Epiphany.docx and answer the questions!

Our History topic this term is the Egyptians.

The English task for today is based around a picture

resource image

Dan had been digging all morning. Along with his team of fellow archaeologists, countless tons and dirt and sand had been removed. At first the mechanical diggers had done their bit, to be followed by spades and shovels. Now, as the team neared their prize, their tools became trowels and delicate brushes.

Hours of sweat and toil in the blistering heat had brought little reward as yet, but things were about to change. Dan stood in front of what he hoped would be the most significant discovery of his career so far, and gently began to untie the knot that had sealed the door for thousands of years…
