Today we are adding one digit numbers practically by counting on

Use two groups of objects with up to 10 objects in each  group. Find the total amount by adding by counting on from the biggest number.

Please do not allow your child just to count all the objects as the they learning to add by counting on .

Repeat with different amounts of objects

Ask the question: which number should you count on from?

Today we are continuing adding ones using number bonds and writing the number sentences. Repeat yesterday's activity and for each go ask your child to write down the number sentence

e.g. 7 + 5 = .12

Remind your child that when we write numbers we always start from the top

Today is 'No Pen no Screen Day' so practice counting

i forwards and backwards to 100 in 1s

Friday - PSHE

Well done to every one who has tried their best this week.

I am proud of you!

It has been shown, especially in this difficult time,  that choice and having some small control over what we do is important for both adult and children's mental health.

So today in school the children will be choosing what they wish to do, I think painting will be at the top of the list!

As the children have worked so hard  Please ask your child what they would like to do.

If you can't go outside, here are a few ideas below just in case

I would love to see photos of what have chosen to do!

Counting 1-20  balloon game: http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/mathgames/earlymath/BalloonCount20.htm

VIDEO LESSON: https://vimeo.com/480768128

Children are counting forwards and backwards by introducing the numbers 11-20.

Children may have difficulty with 11, 12, 13 and 15 as they cannot hear the single digit in the name like others e.g. sixteen –six ones and a ten.

Ask questions such as:
What do you notice about the sounds / patterns of the numbers? Do the ones always become greater when we count?  What comes after the number 10? What does ‘teen’ tell us about a number? How do we say this number?

How would we write ______?
